The event was organised by the Dalbeattie branch of Legion Scotland who invited the faith leaders to participate. The Lord-Lieutenant for the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright opened the ceremony. Lay Reader Helen Evans represented the Scottish Episcopal Church. She read the prayer of St Ignatius Loyola, and invited those gathered to join in saying the Lord’s Prayer.
The Prayer of St Ignatius of Loyola:

Lord teach me to be generous; teach me to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labour and not to ask for reward, save that of knowing that I do your will. Amen.

Other faith leaders involved include The Revd Fiona Wilson (Church of Scotland), The Revd John Murdoch (Church of Scotland), Colin Reilly (Galloway Christian Centre), and Father Francis Barber (Roman Catholic Church).
