1st Dec @ 4:00pm Musical Reflection for Advent at Christ Church, Dalbeattie.

God’s promise of a Redeemer is about to be fulfilled.   This will be a quiet space to express our contrition, and through prayer, scripture and music, to reflect on God’s mercy and forgiveness and his wonderful gift of Redemption and Salvation.  This is a non-denominational time of prayer.   All are welcome.

Healing Blankets are available in both churches. If you know of someone suffering illness, grief or loneliness, in need of a

‘comforter’, please take a blanket from the front of church. The recipient will know that they are enfolded in the prayers of the church. More blankets would be appreciated.

Donations for local Food Banks can be left at the back of

both churches. St Ninian’s supports CD ‘Helping Hands Food Bank’ and Christ Church supports Kirkcudbright Food Bank. Non-perishable foods please, also toiletries. NB: Please will you write the Best Before Date clearly on food items. This helps the people at the Food Banks and saves them time looking for hard to find dates.

Please pray for…

A Celtic Prayer

Adapted from the Gaelic by Mary Rogers

Deep peace of the running wave to you,

of water flowing: rising and falling,

sometimes advancing, sometimes receding…

May the stream of your life flow unimpeded!

Deep peace of the running wave to you!

Deep peace of the flowing air to you,

which fans your face on a sultry day,

the air which you breathe deeply, rhythmically,

which imparts to you energy, consciousness, life.

Deep peace of the flowing air to you!

Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,

who, herself unmoving, harbours the movements

and facilitates the life of ten thousand creatures,

while resting contented, stable, tranquil.

Deep peace of the quiet earth to you!

Deep peace of the shining stars to you,

which stay invisible till darkness falls

and disclose their pure and shining presence

beaming down in compassion on our turning world.

Deep peace of the shining stars to you!
